Cost
The cost associated with providing for the infant(s) can be high.  The charge must not be more than 25% of the family’s cash on hand.  If the family does not have the money for the option they have rolled for, they will choose the next cheapest option by default

Rules for Employing a Wet Nurse

  • The wet nurse is there for the sole purpose of caring for an infant.  She is not the household maid, or cook.  She is to be treated with respect, and provided for as if she were a member of the household.
  •  Summon her, and add her to the household.  She must be paid on arrival with a Simbology cheque.
  • She is to have a bed of her own; it must either be in the nursery, or in an adjoining room.
  • She must not share a room with other children, or the father of the children.
  • She is likely married, therefore non autonomous romantic interactions are discouraged. If an affair occurs at the hands of ACR, the rules for the Desecration of a marriage and Bastardry will apply.

Rules for Being a Wet Nurse
  • The Wet Nurse is a valued and respected position in society, although slightly tainted, as it is a service position.  The following rules apply:
    •  The position is only available to wives of working class men (the subsequent sons of the bourgeois), and disgraced women with children
    •  Women older than 45 may not nurse children that are not her own.
    • She must have given birth at least once, and have at least one child that survived infancy
    • Income is taxable – standard rate of 30%, non taxable if she is wet nurse to a royal child
    • During her employment she will be away from home – ensure other children can be taken care of
    • There is no limit to the number of women who are wet nurses in the neighbourhood
